Patrick Tinsley attended The College of the Holy Cross (B.A. 1998); Eberhard-Karls Universität in Tübingen, Germany; The University of Memphis (M.A. 2002); and Suffolk University Law School (J.D., cum laude, 2005). While in law school, Mr. Tinsley published two law review articles, won multiple academic scholarships and received the American Jurisprudence Award for Criminal Law as well as the American Jurisprudence Award for Property Law. Mr. Tinsley has edited more than a dozen publications and remains an active scholar in the field of law and economics.

Mr. Tinsley joined Avery, Dooley, Post & Avery as a law clerk in 2004 and began his practice of law with the firm in 2005. Mr. Tinsley's practice focuses primarily on representing federal employees in various administrative forums.
